The Union City Country Club is holding a fundraiser for the club and St. Teresa of Avila Church.
The event will be held July 28 at the country club, 9400 Club Road, Union City, and will include a golf scramble at noon; a chicken dinner from 4 to 6:30 p.m.; and the highlight: a golf ball drop from a helicopter at 6 p.m.
The helicopter will drop numbered golf balls. The ball that drops closest to the designated hole is the winner. The holder of the ticket number matching the number of the ball closest to the hole wins $1,000; all ties will split prize money. Tickets are $10 each.
There will also be putting and chipping contests for children starting at 3 p.m.
Parking is free and shuttle service will be available from 2:30 p.m. leaving specially marked parking areas on Route 8 near Holden Road to the golf course.
